My higlander dreams.. shattered

March 5th, 2008 by malenurse

My dinner and dance is tomorrow. The theme is "Red Carpet". Dress to kill, fashion f he rich and famous. Well I had this crazy idea, months before when the organisers mention to us bout this prom thingy. My idea was, the highlander way, formal suit witk a kilt. Saw few times, Prince Charles wearing it and also some show, I saw people wearing it. And you don’t have to be a Scottish to wear it, its a fashion now.

But the big problem is, obtaining it. Before I go further on this, I just want to say that I feel like killing myself. The reason being, I didn’t look hard enough for the kilt. I went yahoo auction and there is nothing and I went Ebay. They have it there but its expensive. Only yesterday I went to Ebay again and I saw a whole set of 8 things for only less than S$150. The 8 things including top, kilt, sporran (bag), belt + buckle, kilt pin, hose (socks) and this ornament thingy which they put on the hose. But what the hell, my prom is tmr! Maybe next time.

And the other big problems is Singaporeans. I think their general knowledge is so minimum. I went online chat room to ask bout anyone knows where can I get a kilt. Boy! I was bombard by them saying only pussies/sissies wear kilts, saying that I’m crazy to wear it and some even say why follow other peoples culture. And the great thing is no one want to hear me out. On and on and on they critise me and in the end, the op, banned me out of the room. I tried explaining to the op by private messaging her but she doesnt want to listen. 3 of the chatters gave me ideas where to get it and thanks to u 3. Other just private message me, mocking me and my idea. One even say, why want to follow the scottish, If the scottish rape their mother, you also do it? I just ignore that stupid, idiotic message. That shows how stupid these people are.

Then I still want to clarify things, so I message one of the chatter that mocked me. I explain everything to him nicely. I even gave him the website to see that kilt can be worn with formal suit. Then he undersood what i meant, at last!

And I went shopping for the kilt. As usual most shop have no idea whats a kilt. And I have to say, scottish kilt, the men wear them. Then some will understand, and some still wondering what this strange Malay boy is talking about. And I have to say something like this, "It looks like a skirt. Men wears them. Scotland men wears them." Some would understand and some still thinks Im crazy that I want to wear a skirt!

At last I found it at Lips enterprise and Cheeks at Far East. They sell it but they are suprised that I, a guy, wanted to wear it. At first they are like, "huh? for wat". This time around I just ignore the idiotic comments they made. And then the shop owners saw the chance to sell off the kilt and they agreed with me. Even wanted to help me alter some things about the kilt. Then they ask me, what am I going to wear it with and so again I explain. And again same reaction, "Usually people wear it will tee-shirt and I never see pple wear formal." I gave up explaining. And they want to rip me off by selling it at $60. For a piece of tartan cloth that is not of good quality and bad service, I gave up.

I found this Singapore shop dealing with kilts and bagpipe. I liased with them but they don’t do rental. And the cheapest casual kilt is selling at $550. Hmmmm, its way over my budget. I really think I have myself to blame for this because I didn’t search hard enough. Effort put in was not enough. Im sorry, me.

The motor tale 2: RXK vs Gilera sumthing

February 10th, 2008 by malenurse

Happens somewhere back then, cant remember the date. I send my gf home @ yew tee and went back home via KJE then Brickland Rd. After exiting KJE, I stopped at the junction before Brickland Rd. A car breadth lengt from me stopped this Gilera sport scooter. Well I just glance at them and I mind my own business.

The road was scattered with stones so I was just kicking it around. Then I heard the Gilera throttle up its engine, so I thought its green and ready to go. I was shocked and was at the ‘ready’ position. That is I grabbed my handle bar and looking forward. But to my suprise, it was still red. And I heard laughter coming from the Gilera direction. I turned and look at them. A Malayu rider with Malay pillion, both males. They were laughing at looking at my direction. I was pissed.

Then it turned green and the gilera sped away. I accelerated and in my heart I really want to sped away and overtake them. Show off a bit to them wat my RXK is really made off. As I gear up to 2nd gear, I made up my mind. I sped off as I went up to 5th gear. By then I was already side by side with them as I looked at them both. Overtook them and then slow down again, now side by side looking at them. As we draw nearer to the junction, I saw the Gilera signaling to go left and I’m going straight. The Gilera turned to its direction and as I slowed down, the feeling of satisfaction settled in. How wonderful, the feeling of victory, satisfaction. Just like the great Mohamed Ali once said, "I’m so bad that I made the medicine sick." Ha ha.

Well it wasn’t me who wants to show off to them, its them who made fun of me. And again, just because I still have my ‘P plate’ on. I just want to teach them a lesson. This old man on an old bike, is not meant to be messed around.

A tale of a RXK, Super 4 and a Kapchai.

December 13th, 2007 by malenurse

Today after dinner with my family at this new seafood shop behind the all famous Bt Gombak Aliff, I returned home. I took a ’short-cut’, cutting into Bukit Batok St 51 then to St 52 then turning out to East Ave 6.

I stopped at this traffic light as it was red. I stopped behind this 2 bikes. A Super 4 and some kind of kapchai, don’t know which type. Both have female pillion on them, and all 4 of them turned back and looked at me. I was just minding my own business, looking at the traffic and looking around. Then the kapchai rider told his female pillion, speaking in their native language (malay ha! ha!), Don’t be scared, I wont speed, I wont corner-corner. Then he looked at me, so does the super 4 rider. Like I said, I cant be bothered by them.

As soon as the traffic light turn green, the kapchai rider sped off. There’s a left turn after the junction and he turned so hard there’s spark flying off due to his foot-rest scrapping the road. After the junction towards St 52, both of the riders rode slowly in front of me, blocking my way. I do not know wats their motive was? After checking no incoming traffic on the other lane, I overtake them. I’m not trying to show off or make them piss, I’m just trying to continue on my way. After overtaking them, I heard the kapchai picking up speed and cut into my lane. As usual, I cannot be bothered. Then the super 4 also did the same.

After the junction at east ave 4, the kapchai rider was showing off to his female pillion and was riding with no hands on the handle. He was waving his hands over his head. No wonder there’s a lot of accident happened among the Malays, riding recklessly.

They are showing off to the wrong person. I’m so cannot be bothered type. I know the capability of my bike. Its their stupidity for all I care. Show off to someone your own size. So what If I’m still having my P plate, everybody started out as a P plate ride once. Melayu.. melayu!!

Intellectual 27th Birthday

June 23rd, 2007 by malenurse

Happy Birthday to me! Ha ha. Yesterday I have the best birthday celebration ever with my gf. With a personal touch by my gf. Very simple and nice. I’m a very simple and easily contended. We had steak at City Plaza. Cannot spent to much coz my gf’s dad coming back from Japan. Its been 2 mths ++ he’s been there so family more important. Overall he had a wonderful time eating and walking around City Plaza. My gf gave my bday gifts early because I already know what she wants to give. Well actually I asked for it lah. I know she wanted to buy me parfumes but its too expensive for her so I request for Body Shop stuff. Furthermore its the Great Singapore Sale, and its cheaper. So she gave me like 2 days before. She bought a sponge like thingy call Lufa and back scrub. Exfoliating face wash, 2 shower gerl and hand wash. So excited, i used it the very day she gave me. I FEEL SO CLEAN!! and now I understand why women spent like FOREVER in the shower.

After I reached home, I slack a bit and my NS friends call for supper. So I went down to meet Ahmed and we drove to Marsiling Al-Ameen. Met Kwok along the way and we convoyed to out destination. We sat and talk and Azmi came. Dzul was away in Phuket I think. And then we were talking and one think lead to another, we are discussing bout space. The blackhole, Planet (now no more a planet) Pluto and why is it a moon and stuff like that. Intellectual conversation. First was about cancer and I was trying to explain to Kwok that everyone HAVE cancer cell waiting to be ‘activated’ and we smokers are at risk, higher risk. We discuss bout space and we have friendly argument on why the planets are all circulating on a same plane and not 3D like orbiting haywire. And why the sea is salty and why the colour is a colour. Lots more on evolution and stuff like that. Hahaha, its really an eye/mind opener and we have learnt alot from each other.

We stayed till like 0200 plus then we make our way to Seletar Dam and played taitee. Kwok have this small packet or wasabi-ed peas and its a forfeit if anyone lost. 1st game Ahmed and me lost so we split 50-50. It was Ahmed’s fault that Kwok came out with the idea of eatng the whole small packet. He was the crazy one that dared to eat the whole packet but he spit most if it out. 2nd round i lost and have to eat the whole packet. Only the initial ’shock’ where the ‘gas’ goes up ur nose and stingy sensation on ur tongue. Once that is over then just start chewing and swallowing. Only small effect of the wasabi is left and its tolerable.

Most memorable b’day and I’m not a b’day celebration kindda guy but nonetheless, happy 27th birthday me! And today later meeting my nursing frens at Lau Pa Sat for a talk cock session and dinner cum celebrating my b’day.

Father’s Day cum Family outing

June 17th, 2007 by malenurse

Actually I was lazy to follow them to ECP to have a family gathering cum Father’s Day celebration. My mom insist me to go. The main reason why I dun want to go is because none of my cousin, the ones around my age, is there. They are rarely present due to work commitment and that pisses me off. Once a while get to meet them to sit and talk but they are never there.

Was force to wake up early in the morning. I did not shower but just brushed my teeth. What I had planned in mid was to suntan. So I took out the biggest towel I have to lay on it and also book to read. In addition I brought the suntan lotion and my mp3 player. Stuff all that in my adventure pouch and hand carried the towel. Helped my dad to carry this small BBQ set and we went down to meet the others.

My family chartered a bus and we all took it to ECP. Sat at the back with Kak Ila and Cik Ahmad. Was not in the mood to talk so I listened to my MP3 player. Reached the place, help set up tent and also the small BBQ set. Helped my sis, Nina to set up fire and bbq some stuff. By then most already changed to take a dip or play by the beach, even my grandfaher. My mom pushed my grandmother, who is in a wheelchair, to the beach to enjoy the warm breeze. I decided to change for a suntan but the weather sucks. Its not sunny but cloudy so no sun. In the end I played by the beach and took a dip in the sea.

Went up to eat and Kak Ila got this game to play to celebrate Father’s Day. Waited for all to come even Dz and Hadi. They came with Azhari at around 4 plus. The game is that all the father have to do a dare that have been written on a piece of paper. The papers are folded so they cant see whats on it. So first up is my grandfather. He picked up a paper that read, ‘Wife have to put on lipstick’. He doesn’t want it eventhough my grandma already took the lipstick from one of my auntie. She look so cute laughing happily. We gave him another chance and he picked up another stated, ‘Dance around your wife 5 rounds’. So off he goes, he just shake here and there and go around my grandmother’s wheelchair.

So off we go after one father to the another. One have to dance, the other have to shout the name of the wife saying ‘I Love You’ and my dad got to kiss my mom for 10 sec. But both were very shy and not sporting so they didn’t do it. Kind of disappointed with them though. They are not like any other couple or parents, mainly they got communication problem but nonetheless I still love them both.

Happy Father’s Day, abah!

Dinner at Rai’s Dad stall

June 15th, 2007 by malenurse

Had to wake up early today because its me and my gf turn to go down to the dreadful Pasir Ris Polyclinic for our data collection. Reached at around 0840 and we went up straight to the asthma clinic. To summaries everything, we got only 1 data collected for the 6 hours we were there. Have to be content with that because some days the team even got 0!

We left at 2 for late lunch and we found out that there’s a bus going to Bugis so we decided to have lunch at the Banquet. I had Yong Tau Fu while my gf had fish porridge then we walk around Bugis. Saw an aquarium sale in Parco Bugis Junction. I was broke though but I decided to buy when my bond pay comes in. I want to help my dad to beautify his gold fish aquarium which is now been abandoned. All he goldfish died except for the sucker fish.

Meet my classmates at 6pm. Acap, Yiting and Kel were late so Rai told them to find us and we made our way to Haig Rd for dinner. The menu today is SATAY! Rai’s dad co-own this stall at Haig Road which is near the all famous kentang ball. It is like this huge ball of potato mash and i the middle they add some meat and its is place in a bowl of soup made of spices. Its nice, no wonder so popular.

Kel came followed by Yiting and Acap. Yiting ask me to check my friendster as she have post a comment for me. Its the joke she played on me saying there’s a DDnD (Drug discovery and development) outing on that faithful day. I decided to have my revenge. So I wait for her to eat and I took candid snapsot of her eating and I post one at her friendster.

We took a photo in front of Rai’s dad stall and off we go walking around. And we reach Singapore Post HQ, Paya Lebar and we saw this big, huge, gargantuan group of people doing line dancing. And they really enjoying it. Mostly are middle age group. I was joking with them that one day when we are old, the should get together and do line dancing. You can see the pics here.

1st Revision of Circuit and Fiq’s B’day

June 13th, 2007 by malenurse

Today I was late for my 1st Revision of Circuit at BBDC (Bukit Batok Driving Centre). Its like a revision practical. Its bad luck for me as I fell twice, one at the slalom and the other at figure of 8. Its been ages since I went round the circuit as I’m caught up with school and hospital attachment commitments. And also I’m very bad at organising time.

At BBDC, after few rounds, I was stopped by this instructor and ask me to ride the new bike. Its new and fast, he said. So i tried and hell yeah it’s powerful (fast). I think its because of the new bike I fell as I’m not use to it. Went home and only then I found out that I sprained my right wrist and elbow area.

Meet up with Mahes for lunch as he send his bike to VICOM nearby my place. Went to McDonald’s and talk bout stuff. We went up and I showered and get ready to meet my gf for window shopping then meet the rest for Fiq’s bday suprise. The pics can be found here.

Walked around, window shopping at the Galleria and walk here and there before making our way to Paragon to meet up with Yi ting, Acap, Litang and Keen Hong. We bought him a CHOZS cake and go meet Yi Ting and the rest at Esplanade. We went to the roof top and prepare for the arrival of the bday boy with Rai. We had lots of fun and the chocolate cake taste superbly chocolaty. We chill a while at the rooftop before making our way for dinner at Makan Sutra.

All I can say is the food suxs and its super expensive. My gf bought mee sup that cost her $5 and the prawn and fishball is turning bad. Keen Hong treat us satay which cost him $24. Even if that place is for tourist attraction and mainly they get the profit from the tourist but please lah, at least have the decent courtesy to make the food edible. Even the drink, the sugar cane juice is like so diluted. Thats the last time I’m going there. I prefer going to Lau Pa Sat. Hmmm, why I didn’t think of that huh?

Hail to my weird girlfriend!

June 4th, 2007 by malenurse

Common test for today is Drug Discovery and Development (DDnD) After that my gf had Nursing Skill Lab (NSL) practical test. Mine is tomorrow. She was tested on ET (Endo-trachea) suctioning and all I can hope for tomorrow is Air Resuscitator testing. Ha ha!

After that we had dinner at BK, Westmall. We talked about stuffs and I was telling her about my bad luck with bus 173. I told her that everytime I’m at the interchange to take bus 173, its either just left or left few minutes after I reached. And I have to wait for more than 15 mins to wait for the next one. Its the same case when I’m at home trying to get to interchange. I always seems to miss that bus.

Then my gf was telling me that she also had few incidents like that herself on bus 61, whenever she goes to school alone. To prevent that, she always walk fast so that she would not miss the bus. And I laughed at her ridiculous idea. Why do u chase after a bus when the bus is not there in the first place to be chased? Get what I mean. Its like chasing after something which is not there. So I joked with her saying that right after i lock my door to my house I should just keep on running to the bus stop. Its going to be funny when people there see me running for no reason to the bus stop. She insisted that it worked for her. When she leave the MRT station to go to the bus interchange she would walk at a fast speed and only slowed down when she knows the bus have not leave yet. I was still laughing at her idea and call her a weirdo.

After dinner, as usual I send her to the MRT station and kiddingly told her that I’m going to try her theory and walk fast (or even run!) to the interchange so that I would not miss bus 173. We hugged, kissed, say our goodbyes and off I go. Looking back at her going thru the station gantry and giggling to myself as i sped off, walking at a fast pace. I reached the berth and found the queue to be empty. I thought I miss the bus, so what was new as my luck with this bus 173 have been bad recently. And also my gf theory was proven wrong but when I turn and look at the bus bay, there it was. The majestic yellow SMRT Bus was lighted, engine roaring and with passengers in it. OH MY GOD! I can’t believe it as I didn’t miss the bus. A few people left in the queue outside the bus waiting to board it. Took out my concession, tap and I was laughing inside my heart. I can’t believe it because if I were to take my time and walk at my usual pace, I WOULD HAVE MISS THE BUS!! My gf was right. I sms her telling her that her theory worked.

She got the last laugh! ‘ I was thinking that at the back of my head, still amazed and daze. Sorry baby for laughing at you.

Common test + 1 Kg

May 26th, 2007 by malenurse

94 Kg

That was my weight last Friday after gym-ing at the school’s new gym. Was a bit disappointed. I gained 1 Kg after like 3 session of gym since my last entry and 1 session of badminton. I feel great nonetheless because I know that I have been practicing healthy lifestyle.

This whole week no chance to do gym. Except on Monday. Did lower body especially the butt and lower tummy area. No time to gym in school because we started our research project. We have to travel all the way to P. Ris polyclinic to do survey. We started last Saturday but the result was de-moralising. We have ZERO participation. Kind of messy, no organization and its very troublesome for us. We have to like stand near the pharmacy technician (pt) waiting for clients with asthma to submit their medical chit. Then the pt would inform us and we would do the survey. The aisle was very small and if we stand near the pt, we would be blocking the traffic of clients walking thru and fro.

We got 3 candidates but 1 is under 20 and 2 others is over 50. Our requirement is 20-50. Its not efficient this way. We have to depend ok luck, hoping for asthma walk in cases. They have regular asthma clients but their appointment usually in the morning weekdays. So comes Wednesday. We have to be at the polyclinic by 1200. I end class at 1000 and I meet my gf and had lunch first before meeting the others and proceed to the polyclinic. Still ZERO participants. Morale really super low. We come so far but nothing. We even tried split the group into 2, 1 grp at the pharmacy another grp at the treatment area. Clement got the nurse to print out schedule for the appointment of the regular asthma client. Not sure if this is against the study’s regulation. I hope this will facilitate our research.

I think one more disadvantage is that our questionnaire is 60 questions long. Kind of long for random selective survey. I think people might think its too long and might eat into their time. As you all might know, S’porean hate to do survey. My suggestion is when these asthma regulars come for their appointment, before seeing the doctor or the asthma nurse, guide them to a room (provided for us) to do the survey then after that they go on to proceed to their appointment. In this way, we do not have to chase around people requesting for surveys. In a way, we are intimidating them and confirm plus guarantee they would not want to participate in our study.

On Friday, we had improve a bit. We got 2 but we missed another 2 because they refuse to participate in the survey. We cannot force them but say sorry and thanks. Wasted! We got today (Saturday) off, because it have been exhausting for us, traveling and waiting. We as a group decided to take the Saturday off, and I think Kel manage to inform Miss Yen (I hope!) ha ha.

Next 2 weeks is common test. Its seems all have started studying. How I know? Well their nick at MSN Messenger tells me so. I’m not sure what is their intention. If they are really studying, why not shut off MSN, trust me, better concentration 100%. I’m not sure whether they want the whole world to know they have start studying or maybe.. they got their own reason. Its no point to log in to MSN, then set you nick like " Really busy studying for (name of module here), Do not disturb, Msg only important stuff " and then study because confirm plus guarantee there will be some Tom, Dick and Harry to msg you and then we will be too busy engaging in a conversation. Even if to ask about academic stuff. Sorry, I didn’t mean to target anyone but I am just curios and that set me thinking. That’s all.

Friday the 11th

May 11th, 2007 by malenurse

Today have been a day of mix feelings. For starters, I feel good after using the new school gym, gymwerkz. I run for 2.4 at an astounding timing of 25 mins, ha ha. Seeking to improve that timing. After that I did upper body workout starting from pectoral, biceps and then the deltoids plus the trapezius. In additional to that I did a stomach crunch which left me a crunching pain on my abdomen now, I like. After that went for a short swim, teaching my gf how to swim. Shower then eat late lunch. Hanisah got class, Nursing Lab at 1500. So i left early with her to accompany her for the long walk to 81. By then I felt the strain and my body was darn tired. I went to 6th floor and went to sleep at the bench behind the BCLS lab. Had a super nice sleep plus the breeze up there was superb.

Tomorrow (Sat), all of us have to attend this 1hr talk at Pasir Ris Polyclinic at 0800. Its like the other end of Singapore, and we have to wake up and waste our time just to attend the pathetic 1 hour talk at P. Ris polyclinic. According to Miss Yen, The Principal investigator, this Dr. somebody, wanted to show us the pharmacy and the area on how to go about doing our research. But come on, not all of us will be stationed at P. Ris polyclinic, only my group will be there. The rest would be at Outram, Bt. Merah ans etc. So each polyclinic’s layout is diff, meaning showing us P. Ris pharmacy and the layout would be redundant because once the other group leave for their own polyclinic, they will be orientated to their own place. Why not this Dr. Somebody just drive over to our school and brief us there, save time and it is very efficient. Total there are 2 groups of students going to briefing tomorrow. Asthma project have 36 students and Coronary Artery Disease have the similar number. And most of us are in the west and north. Total waste of time. Briefing at 0815, end at 0915 then, waste another hour back home. What a day to start the Weekend.

After school, we suppose to play soccer but Keen Hong’s friend volleyed the ball to the roof top of the toilet. We tried taking the ball but to no avail. At the same time, we were waiting for Yazid, Mas and Ariff if I’m not mistaken as they went to JB to get cigarettes and also eat there. Waited for so long, we grew impatient plus even if they come, we got no ball to play. We decided to play DOTA. We stop for refreshment, plus Li Tang wanted to eat. While eating, Mas sms Keen Hong saying that we didn’t respect them as they really rushed to meet us to play soccer but we leave without them. My thoughts on that, maybe its our fault for not informing them (but i thought Keen Hong already told Mahathir to sms/call to inform them). Who the hell ask them to go JB in the first place just for cigarettes and they really take a long time. Even if they arrived in time, we have no ball to play. I wont take sides though, maybe both of us were at wrong.

Dota/CS session was fun, especially CS. Dota, I’m a noob because I was doing nothing. Just walking here and there killing creeps. Tried to help them in big battles but I think I’m just extra. CS was fun as we laughed our heads off. We decided to play knife only in the middle of the game but the whole game turn chaotic. Warren on the friendly fire and at first some accidental killed their teammate but then after that, it was done on purpose. Then we agreed on handguns but some heck care and used rifles. We were laughing like school girls, ha ha. It was fun while it last because tomorrow, I have to go to P. Ris, now I know how Rai, Nurul and Riana feel. Ha ha!

Weight : 93kg
